As a child my favorite thing to draw was cartoon characters, especially Pop-eye. As I grew older and time passed, my one and only sister married. The man she married was an excellent artist and he started to teach me the basics of drawing and then eventually painting with oils. I was starting to do pretty well and around this time it was discovered that my sister, who had played a large part of my early childhood development, had uterine cancer. This was devastating to the entire family, but I took it pretty hard being the youngest of three boys and our only sister, along with her little daughter, Wendy.
I continued for a short while in painting after the death of my sister, but eventually I no longer had the heart for it and pretty much stopped.
Marriage was the next direction for my life and two busy babies eventually came along, but I didn’t think about painting. Tim, my oldest, was first and then a few years later we had Mike. At this point it was beginning to be clear that this marriage wasn’t going to last. We eventually parted ways. And more time went by.
I married again and we had, what I thought would be my youngest son, Scott. At this point in my life I was living on a farm owned by my father and mother in law, and life was fairly pleasant. I was a different father this time, perhaps because I was older or perhaps because I wasn’t drinking nearly as much as when I was younger. Scott reached the age of about five and his mother decided she was no longer happy and moved on. I stayed on the farm with Scott and my in-laws, and I am still there this many years later. But still not painting.
Again as time went by my oldest son Timothy the II, decided, that dad need someone in his life, and put me on Match.com. I eventually met my last wife on this site. You all know her as Rebecca, but I call her by her middle name, Kirsten. Well let me tell you my wife can be very persistent and when she found out that I used to paint, well let’s just say I started painting again. I started out with some Christmas plaques and then just kept on going. My wife has three children, but only one at home, our oldest daughter; Jonquil lives in SC with her soon to be husband and five children. The other two, who are now my last children, we have Ruth at home yet, but she will being going to college this fall and Samuel who is at Lancaster Bible College.
So in all we have a very busy and wonderful life with six children, Tim and Mike, are married and have blessed us with four grandchildren, three boys and one girl, Jonquil, who is getting closer to being married has blessed us with three boys and two girls, Scott is engaged and has blessed us with one boy. Samuel and Ruth are still in school and working towards what the Lord and life has for them.
I hope you all enjoy looking at my paintings as much as I have enjoyed painting them.
